Girls: St. Mary's vs Central Baptist

The Lady Bison’s found themselves caught in a “barn burner” against Central Baptist from Yorkshire, NY,  but managed to escape with our 4 game win streak still in tacked.  It was an extremely physical contest with at least 5 lead changes in the first half.  Both teams attempted a variety of different offensive and defensive combinations but no one could seem to get the upper hand.  That was until the start of the 3rd quarter when one of our starters was forced to sit out with 4 fouls and some of our other players were asked to step up in their brief absence.  The dynamic of the game changed when our girls were given different roles with additional responsibilities.  I think we surprised ourselves as much as we surprised the other team.   Jessie O’Brien demonstrated excellent hussle on defense and  played mistake free offense for the entire 3rd quarter.  Dinahliz Quinones embraced her new challenge and finished the night with 2 points and 11 rebounds.  We were able to extend our lead to as many as 11 points and hang on for the victory 58-47.  It should also be noted that Crystle Marion scored 36 points.  For those of you who are doing the math, she is 15 points away from breaking the all time WNY career scoring record.  We have a game this Thursday at the Park School against the Pioneers and it is possible that it could be an historical evening for our program.  Please come and support our team as we look to continue this special season.

Thanks,

Coach Booke & Coach Chuba
