Girls: Lexington vs New Jersey

Lexington

Jackson Heights, N.Y.- New Jersey Colts traveled to Lexington to face a team that had two starters that did not play last December when we lost to them 28 to 30 at the NJSD’s annual tip-off tournament championship game. The girls kept telling me we need the win and I told them it was up to them to do their best. The girls played their best to avenge the lost with Nayrani Seerattan and Jessica De la Cruz’s high scoring performances. Finally, their offense aspect of the game clicked but we scored mostly on the fastbreaks. Our defense was well managed as well. Alexis McLeod conitunes to dominate in the paint with her rebounding, also Christal Greene was her supporting cast today with ten rebounds.

Statistics Leaders:

Points- Jessica De la Cruz & Nayrani Seerattan (18 each)

Rebounds- Alexis McLeod (14 total) & Christal Greene (10 total)

Assists- Nayrani Seerattan (5) & Jessica De la Cruz (4)

Steals- Jessica De la Cruz (3)

Blocked Shots- Nayrani Seerattan & Alexis McLeod (1 each)

Season Record: 4-8 (Deaf Schools 2-2)

Next game: Friday, February 3rd against Lawrence Woodmere Academy at Lexington at 4 PM.

Frank Wells, Head Coach

New Jersey

Lexington got revenge from an earlier season loss the to Lady Colts in the championship game of NJSD’s annual tip off tournament. The Lady Colts were missing two starters. Point guard Indra Oseagulu, out for the season with
a knee injury. Erin Gasque starting center was also out for this game. NJSD girls are down to only 6 players.  The tired Lady Colts were really never in the game. On a positive note, Liliana Martinez, broke her finger in the tip off tournament, was only in her second game back and led the team with 14 points. A career high for her! Algerbra Williams added 8
points, 2 rebounds, 2 assists. Judith Cantril chipped in 3 points. Nicole Baldwin added 2 points, 1 rebounds, 3 assists and a block.

Season Record:  4  -9

Next game at Delaware on Monday February 6th
